Before you schedule an appointment,
here is what you need to know:

Why should I schedule an eye exam at Optimism?

If you have experienced any of the following, we suggest scheduling an eye exam with one of our Optometrists:

  • Changes in vision
  • Red, dry or itchy eyes
  • Blurred vision
  • Eye pain or strain
  • Extreme or recurring headaches
  • Seeing black or gray spots
  • Difficulty seeing at night while driving
  • You have diabetes, high blood pressure or another health condition that affects your eyes

Finally, if you can't remember the last time you had an eye exam, you’re probably ready for one. Eye exams should be performed annually to ensure you are seeing clearly and preserving your overall eye health and vision.

What can I expect from an Optimism eye exam?

Depending on if you are getting an exam for glasses, contacts or both, the comprehensive exam will include a digital refraction to most accurately measure eyesight and eyewear needs for glasses and/ or contact lenses and an overall digital/picture eye health exam. The Optometrist will also perform a contact lens fitting to determine which contact lenses fit and feel best for you for a personalized solution to your vision needs. Digital Retinal Imaging can be performed for a small additional fee ($29.99) which takes the place of dilation.

What is included in the contact lens exam?

Our team of experts will determine diagnostic information that indicates what contact lenses are right for you. The contact lens exam also includes the fitting and follow-up in addition to the eye exam.

What should I do to prepare for my eye exam?
  • Please plan to arrive 10 minutes before your appointment to complete patient forms.
  • If you’re a new patient with Optimism, it’s helpful to bring a copy of your most recent eyeglass and/or contact lens prescription from your previous provider and your current pair of prescription eyeglasses
  • If you have vision insurance, bring a copy of your insurance card. We encourage you to call the store before your appointment to verify your benefits.

Do I need an appointment?

Walk-ins are absolutely welcome at Optimism! Request an appointment here or just swing by for an eye exam and to browse our vast selection of men’s, women’s and kids eye wear, including prescription sunglasses!

How long will the exam take?

What people are saying.

The difference here is that people put forth an effort to show they care about you, the community in Colorado Springs and the kids they donate glasses to with Von’s Vision.
